  • Options For IT Workers

The Canadian government provides fast-tracking work permit processing to the tech sector because of its importance to the Canadian economy. This comprehensive CS Immigration page gives a summary of IT talent work permit alternatives.

Global Talent Stream

Employers wishing to hire specific IT specialists in Canada may be eligible for an accelerated and assisted Labour Market Impact Assessment under the Global Talent Stream (LMIA).Software Engineers and Designers, Computer Programmers and Interactive Media Developers, Information Systems Analysts and Consultants, and Computer and Information Systems Managers are all examples of qualified occupations.

CUSMA Professionals

There is a list of about 60 occupations that qualify for a facilitated work visa called the CUSMA Professional work permit under the Canada-United States-Mexico Agreement (CUSMA). Computer systems analysts, graphic designers, technical publications writers, and computer engineers are just a few of the IT-related vocations that are eligible.

The Canadian employer is not need to secure an LMIA prior to the American or Mexican citizen applying for their work visa, making this work permit more convenient.
An employer can bring a foreign worker to Canada in less time because no LMIA is necessary.

Intra-Company Transferees

Intra-Company Transfer (ICT) is another work permit option that works similarly to the CUSMA Professional work visa in that it does not require an LMIA.
To be qualified for an ICT work permit, the worker must have worked for the firm abroad for at least one year and the two companies must have a qualifying relationship (subsidiary, affiliate, parent, or branch).
